Elvis Sighting

Elvis sang Amazing Grace in the service this morning. Well, maybe it was really Dan Hicks doing his Elvis impersonation, while the praise band played. Sure sounded like Elvis, though.

Pastor Jack brought us home to Jesus' neighborhood in Mark 2, taking a look at the forgiving of sins mentioned in the passage. He talked of the faith that breaks through barriers, and he spoke of the friends letting down the paralyzed man into the simple home where Jesus was speaking.

Lenten services this week include a 7 p.m. Wednesday service at North Highlands United Methodist and 12:05 and 6 p.m. at First United Methodist Church

In Sunday school, adults looked at I Timothy while kids were in Luke 11.

Next week, there is a board meeting after the service.

Family Studies for Lent

Maybe it's time to renew flagging faith, to shore up daily discipline, to help your family refocus on the things of Christ. Maybe you've been wanting to revive the spiritual dimension of your life or turn back to a more faithful walk with God.
This 2011 Family Study for Lent provides a framework to help you do these things.
Prepared by the United Methodist General Board of Discipleship, this devotional plan might be a place to start.
