Faith kids illustrate Bible stories

Kids at Faith Church are illustrating Bible stories using MIT's Scratch programming application. Scratch is a program that allows kids to draw, paint, animate, and to mix sound effects and vocals to create imaginative games and animations. This Sunday, the first project was completed, and the other two are nearly done. Check the kids page for updates. To see the first completed project, click here.

Early start tomorrow

Faith Church starts at 10 tomorrow. Services will resume at the normal 10:30 time the following week. This early time allows Pastor Jack to attend an event at 11 afterwards. Sunday school will be at nine, as usual, but will simply be shortened. The sermon for tomorrow is titled Christians in Retreat.

What's happening at Faith?

We hope to see Pastor Jack and Kathy this week. Sunday school has started for adults and kids. The young adult online/on-site hybrid class is still a few weeks away. Naomi Seaton made it safely to Wales. The UMW has set a date for its fall rummage and bake sale: Saturday, Oct. 29. Sunday school kicks off this week

Sunday school kicks off this week. The adults will be looking at righteousness and wisdom, and will be looking at passages in Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon and Matthew, focusing on the passing down of God's truth from generation to generation.

Kids' class will be looking at Questions Jesus asked. They will be mostly in the book of Mark. Also, they will be using creative methods to illustrate Bible stories so we can post them online: arts, crafts, drama and computer animation are in the works, to bring Bible stories alive and provide them to the public.

In mid-September, a new young adult class will start. This will be a hybrid of in-person Bible class and online class. The idea is that the young adults, no matter how far away they are, can still join others in their church family for study and sharing.

For church this week, Art Marmorstein will give the message, "The Crash and Burn Christian." Kathy and Pastor Jack are on vacation and should be back soon.

Another hat

Bob Seaton plays the guitar and sings in church. He fixes things, sits on the board, sets up chairs, solves problems should they arise. He coordinates children's messages, and does plenty of other things in and for the church. He gives occasional conference reports, and leads services when Pastor Jack is away. This week, though, he'll actually be giving the message.

Pastor Jack and Kathy will enjoy a few more weeks away and be back after Labor Day.

This week

Pastor Jack and Kathy are gone this week, so Ted Kneebone will give the message. Fall is on the way. That means preparations are in the works for Sunday school. Service is, as usual, at 10:30 a.m.
